"There are no more things, just sensations as illustrated through variations of light through color.

I am a full time artist and was born in December 1978 in the Free State.  I grew up on a farm and studied Hospitality Management. I Specialized later as a Chef, working in various 5-star establishments both locally and internationally.

I took the big and wonderful step to make my art and oil painting a full-time career in December 2014 and never looked back.

My studio is snug in the heart of the Eastern Cape where I enjoy the space and beauty to create.  My surroundings are my biggest inspiration and I see a work of art in most things in my daily life.

I played with different mediums and fell in love with oils and mixed mediums, most of my work will be seen in oil. I find it to be a very forgiving and alive medium... the smells surrounding my studio when working in oils soothe and comfort me.

I am not married to a specific subject matter but rather to the use of colour, trying to push  light as far as possible and to create the atmosphere I need in an art piece I create."

Kari has featured in various magazines and has been interviewed on radio.

Kari is an internationally recognised artist, her work featuring in a number of private collections around the world.
